One way you can support Utah dairies (and the farmers who provide their feed), is to visit: www.whereismymilkfrom.com.

The new site, created by a BYU student, explains where your milk comes from by using the codes printed on milk cartons — just above the expiration date.

Watch Family TV – Online!

A new web site, Watch FamilyTV, offers family-friendly viewing favorites online — free!

Watch FamilyTV gathers entertaining video — many from television and the theater — and posts them on one, family-safe site.

On other video sites, like YouTube or Guba, it can be difficult (or impossible) to find what you are looking for.  Not only do such sites offer little or no organization, but they often include huge amounts of mind-numbing home videos, gross-out clips, and hardcore adult videos jumbled in with everything else.  Certainly not “fun for the whole family.”

In comparison, videos on Watch FamilyTV are carefully screened, with a wide variety of family favorites available — from old Disney cartoons, like “Johnny Appleseed,” to recent full-length movies such as “Thunderbirds.”  They include a selection of popular Web viral videos as well — which are all kid-safe.   Here is their list of categories:

Family Central

  · Vintage TV – Oldies and goodies

  · Movies – Featuring your favorite films

  · Comedy – Family-friendly sitcoms

Adventure

  · Around the World – Travel fun everywhere

  · Amazing – Awesome sports & more

  · Laughs – Surprising & silly LOLs

  · Tech – Technology, gadgets & more

Imagine

  · Create – Make, design & do

  · Style – Beauty & fashion

  · Delicious – Food & cooking

  · Music – Music videos & more

Animate

  · Anime – Japan(imation)

  · Shorts – Quick animated fun

  · Shows – Favorite cartoon programs

  · Theater – Full-length animated films

So, if you — or your children — are looking for something fun to do online, visit Watch FamilyTV!

Here are some great computer games — all available for free download — recommended by Computer Shopper for older kids just in time for Christmas vacation:

TrackMania Nations Forever - TrackMania Nations Forever lets you drive at mind-blowing speeds on fun and spectacular tracks in solo and multiplayer modes. Nations Forever offer s a new “Forever” version of the Stadium environment, a solid solo mode and 65 brand new, progressively difficult tracks. TrackMania Nations Forever unite players with engaging multiplayer modes, innovative online functions and interactivity between players.

Rails - In this game you build a railroad system and earn money by delivering cargo between cities. The goal is to be the first to connect to the major cities (at least all but one) and collect €250.

Rumble Box: Tournament Edition - Rumble Box is a fast paced 3D action beat-em-up with a unique premise: all of the characters are made of simple objects which stay around in the level even after the character is defeated. The objects pile up, changing the gameplay landscape and altering your combat tactics. The game takes place inside a giant box, and the ultimate goal of the game is to pile up enough defeated enemies to get out of the box.

War Rock - War Rock is a tactical, modern FPS (first-person shooter) exploding with intense, fast-paced combat. Armed with the world’s deadliest weapons and controlling the most lethal vehicles, players attack three story-driven, killer game play modes in the air, on the land and over the sea. The game is free to download and Free2Play so players can get right into pwning other players from around the world.

Sauerbraten - Sauerbraten (a.k.a. Cube 2) is another free multiplayer/singleplayer first person shooter, created as a free, open source project.

Synaesthete - Synaesthete creates a harmony between player actions and in-game music, in a way that each influences the other. The rhythm and flow of the music is expressed in every detail of the game, so that the visual and audio are not two experiences, but one.

Virtual Family Kingdom – free, family-friendly online world

Virtual Family Kingdom has recently added areas for fairies, mermaids, and horses you can ride just about everywhere.

Virtual Family Kingdom has recently added areas for fairies, mermaids, and horses you can ride everywhere.

Virtual Family Kingdom is a new, free, online world where people of all ages and from across the globe gather to explore, chat, play, make friends, decorate their homes, or just hang out and watch “TV.”

The free virtual world offers players a chance to create an “avatar” — an online version of yourself — and explore different periods of history from around the globe, whether its visiting the grand Old West, or seeing modern-day Australia.

Characters can earn credits by playing games or engaging in educational “quests,” and use the credits to “buy” new clothing, rooms for themselves, magical powers, and more.

Virtual Family Kingdom offers a family-safe environment with real-world moderators — many of them from Disney’s highly-praised Virtual Magic Kingdom, which was closed in a period of mismanagement at the House of Mouse.  Like the now-closed VMK, the new Virtual Family Kingdom also employs a dictionary which requires users to keep within the realm of properly-spelled English, minus any cursing or personal identification words to keep kids extra safe.

Even the in-room TV sets play family-friendly programming, ranging from fun online shorts, to shows like “Ozzie and Harriet,” and full-length films like “Iron Giant.”

New features are rolled out seemingly each week, such as the recent addition of Halloween decorations on throughout Britain’s Victorian Age, a new Halloween store to shop for spooky virtual costumes and decorations, as well as a new magical ability to turn your character into a wolf.  Other magical animals are said to be on their way, joining the abilities to magically turn yourself into a fairy or mermaid/merman.  A new “space pirates” game, along with the ability to trade real-world commodities, and a fine art collecting game are also rumored to be underway.

People of all ages — from toddlers, children, ‘tweens, teens, parents, and even a large number of grandparents — are enjoying VFK.  Many far-flung families purchase extended family memberships which grant them daily allotments of in-game credits and extended functionality when visiting with their own family members.

Whatever your age, be sure to gather your family around to enjoy a free vacation in the magical Virtual Family Kingdom, where history comes alive — today!

Popcap Games

Popcap Games produces some of the most popular games on the Internet! Most are puzzle type games, and offer as-much-time-as-you-want options. If you’re worried about playing games where you’ll end up dying every few seconds, these are the games for you… Just click where it says "Click to Play!" for a popup window to open with the game. Minimizing pauses the games.

  • Bejeweled 2 – Drag jewels to make horizontal or vertical lines of 3 or more. Warning: highly addictive!
  • Bookworm – What Scrabble wishes it was! Click letters in sequence to spell words — the longer the better. Too many short words gives you new burning tiles; don’t let them reach the bottom or the game’s over! (Psst: This is an educational game.)
  • Dynomite! – Shoot dinosaur eggs so three or more of the same color touch and boom!. Don’t let the eggs reach the bottom or you’ll get stomped!
  • NingPo MahJong – A ancient puzzle game, updated. Match pairs of tiles until they’re all gone. The tiles must have nothing on top of them, and have a free side. Sound easy? There’s a reason this game’s been played for centuries!
  • Zuma – Just your basic, mesoamerican-shoot-balls-from-the-frog-idol-to-make-rows-of-three-or-you’re-history sort of game. You know, the usual.

Orisinal

Check out these delightfully cute, little games from Ferry Halim at Orisinal.com. Mr. Halim is from Indonesia, where orisinal means original.

Here are a few of our favorites:

  • The Way Home – Help the little squirrel grab the food on the window ledges — don’t fall!
  • A Daily Cup of Tea – Help the two mice work together to grab the sugar cubes… without a bouncing ball hitting them!
  • Chicken Wings (are Not for Flying) – Save the stubborn little chicks, who keep trying to fly. Throw an umbrella up in air for them to catch on their way down.
  • It Takes Two – There’s food flying by! Can your puppy and kitten jump on the see-saw to grab some before the food (or your time) flies away?
  • What Comes Around – This racoon lives on his "own planet." Even though he’s annoyed by those pesky gophers, he’s still on top of the world. Drop walnuts on them to make them drop off.
  • Snow-Bowling – Ever wish bowling was an outdoor sport? Here’s a little wintertime mischief, rolling snowballs at ice skaters as they pass by.
  • Cats – It’s like herding cats!
  • The Pond – These ducklings are hungry, but they can’t seem to find the acorns that keep falling into the water. Pat the water to scoot the acorns into the ducklings’ paths!
