Dick Cumiskey is now serving as Managing Director for Sevier Citizens for Clean Air and Water. Cumiskey argued successfully before the Utah Supreme Court against a troubled coal-fired power plant proposal planned for Sigurd, alongside Jim Kennon.
The SCCAW Board of Directors have vowed to continue in the spirit and memory of Jim Kennon and his unflagging efforts to maintain the unspoiled beauty of Sevier Valley. The group is continuing to plan their future, on-going efforts, and will maintain their office on Richfield Main Street.

Several local businesses are closing in the area, including Gamespot and Movie Gallery stores in Richfield, both of which offered DVDs and video games.
The Tree of Life Health Food store is also closing its’ Richfield Main Street location, and plans to continue to offer health supplements through their home and online.
Movie Gallery closed its location due to the bankruptcy of its parent corporation, which had recently bought out another large chain, Hollywood Video which brought a significant amount of debt to the new company. With outside competitive pressures from Redbox kiosks, Netflix DVD-by-mail services, and numerous online movie offerings, the Movie Gallery chain was unable to manage its debt. The Richfield location is closing, along with hundreds of other locations across the country.
Gamespot employees said the store was closing because of unacceptably increased rent in the strip mall in front of the Richfield Wal-mart. The building is owned and managed by a company which is based outside the area. The Tree of Life store was also said to face higher rents from its owner, who also lives outside the area.
Local experts find the rent increases surprising, given the state of the economy, and suspect the property owners may be under pressure from decreased income from other sources.
